Birthing Center Orientation
This orientation is mandatory for anyone who would like to deliver her baby inside the special Birthing Center area of the Women's Care Unit. These special suites offer a personal delivery experience inside a cozy, home-like environment inside our state of the art facility.
This is a one time, information only virtual orientation to provide the expectant mother and her support person with an overview of the Birthing Center guidelines and allows the opportunity to ask questions. The orientation fee includes both the patient and her support person.
Mothers considering a delivery in this special area must obtain approval from their obstetrician/midwife and be considered a low risk pregnancy.
This orientation does not replace a childbirth preparation course. The mother should prepare herself, in advance, for a natural labor and delivery experience without the use of labor pain medication and/or epidural.
We recommend that you have this completed before you are 36 weeks pregnant. Due to high demand of this orientation, we encourage you to book early to have it completed within the suggested timeframe. If you are unable to book this orientation within the appropriate timeframe, remember that several of our standard labor and delivery rooms also have tubs and natural labor tools to support an unmedicated labor and delivery experience.
NOTE: If you have registered to attend our expectant parents' class, "NATURAL MOMS", there is no need to register for this orientation. This orientation is incorporated into the content of that series.
*If you are an Ascension Employee, please call to request a discount code BEFORE registering for a class. We are unable to apply the discount after a registration has processed. Employees will be expected to show their employee photo ID badge upon arrival to class.
If you've had a previous natural delivery in our Birthing Center, please contact us to schedule a private refresher orientation appointment instead of registering to attend one of these orientation sessions.
To attend a OB walking tour, you must register separately for that event.
If you have questions that must be addressed before your orientation date, please call the Family Learning Center staff at 615-284-6455 Monday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. If your class required payment, a refund will be given if a cancellation request is received 2 business days (48 hours) prior to the start of the class/program. A full refund will be given for any class cancelled by the site.

This is an interactive group VIRTUAL session in which you will receive a Google Meet email invite which contains a hyperlink needed to attend the online session. Be sure to watch for that email and check your spam folder. When you receive the Google Meet email invite, read the details and RSVP "YES" .
