Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown
Birthing Your Baby
Birthing Your Baby is a class series focusing on pregnancy warning signs, labor stages/phases, hospital medical interventions, medications (including epidural), cesarean section delivery and postpartum recovery. This series is taught by registered nurses with extensive experience as labor and delivery nurses.
Welcome to Birthing Your Baby! This course provides a general overview of labor and delivery as well as postpartum care, but it does not include detailed content in the areas of natural childbirth techniques, baby care or breastfeeding. We offer additional classes such as Just About the Baby, Comprehensive Breastfeeding and Baby, Breastfeeding & Beyond.
*A support person is encouraged to attend the classes (no additional fee). The fee includes the book, handouts and your sessions with your instructor. Classes fill-up quickly, so please plan accordingly.
If you are wanting to prepare for a 'natural' (unmedicated) childbirth experience, we recommend registering for our Natural Moms series instead of the Birthing Your Baby series. As an added bonus, the Natural Moms series includes the Birthing Center Orientation, which is a requirement for any patient who wishes to deliver in our low-risk Birth Center Suites.
If you have any questions, please contact us at The Family Learning Center (Monday-Friday 9 am-Noon) at [email protected] or 615-284-6455.
All potential patients should go online to pre-register as a patient with the hospital. Click the link or scan the QR code:
