About us

The Ascension Saint Thomas Kidney Transplant Program brings together an experienced renal care team, providing high-level care to all of our patients. Our kidney transplant program holds a reputation for excellence in kidney transplantation. Timeliness in receiving a transplant has the largest impact on survival after being placed on the waiting list. Ascension Saint Thomas is well above the expected transplant rate for the southeastern United States.

Our multidisciplinary team includes transplant surgeons, nephrologists, social workers, registered nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and financial advisors. Patients must meet certain requirements to be eligible for transplant to give them the best possible chance of being placed on the waiting list. Together, we take a holistic approach when evaluating our patients. For example, if a patient’s BMI is borderline, our care team will work with them closely in setting health goals so they can be listed.

Living donor workshops

We invite you to join our monthly living donor workshops where you will learn the benefits of living donation, discover your story and acquire the tools to help you find a live donor. This is a free opportunity open to all, but especially those who are on the kidney transplant waitlist, interested in becoming a living donor or a medical provider who cares for those needing a kidney transplant.
